10A sikring på 1.5mm kabel

Hi all,

I will write in English, since my norwegian is not good enough :)

I have a little question about the electric installation in my house. It was done in 1994, I have fuses of 10A with 1.5mm cables...and I was wondering if it's save to connect 600w heaters in these electric plugs? or should it be 16A and 2.5 mm?

It's the first time in my life that I see fuses of 10A in a house, so I'm a little bit afraid hehe

Tusen takk!

You may connect heaters etc up to a nominal value of 2300W (230V*10A=2300W) on a 10A outlet. For a shorter periode you may even exceed that.

Normally 2300w is fully safe.

In a 110V system you must use more copper to conway more amps for the same wattage.

Ok, then :)

My worry was more about the cable section, than the power since it's forbidden to connect these kind of devices to a cable of 1.5mm, in my country. So, I was not sure about that...

Thanks for your help! ;)
