Question about work done yourself

 4     0
Hello all,

Forgive me speaking english, I read some Norwegian, but not enough.
We have Bought a tomt in Inderøy and are now planning the hytte.

The hytte will be delivered utvendig installed, we want to do the rest ourselves.
In regard to electric I am aware of the NEK 400 rules and that official electricians have to plan and connect. But both my brother in law and myself are experienced in electrics in our country and want to do some things ourselves, such as laying the piping and pulling the cables through them as this is labor intensive work.

We don’t want to do the electric cabinet connection et cetera, but the pre-work to save on the costs. Is this allowed or grey area? And is 1000kr per point still a good indication?

Tusen takk!

And the google translation version 😉

It's a somewhat grey area. Most electricians on this forum say you can't really legally pull conduit (with or without pre-drawn wires) and put up the electric boxes (without doing the electrical connections) yourself either, unless you are under direct supervision of the electrician the whole time. (i.e. your helping while he's working...)

You may find an electrician in IRL with a somewhat more lenient/practical view, however.

in real life most electricians don't like spending time on the conduit. and will be more then happy to let you do that part of the job. just talk to your electrician. and do it accordingly to how the sparky wants it.

you'll save money, and the sparky can concentrate on the jobs that makes him the most money Smile

please note that the sparky probably will demand that you buy the materials from him

Thank you gentlemen! Is that common that they want you to buy the materials from them? The plan was to buy most of the common things in Nederland as it is much cheaper here 😉 Things such as wires, conducts and stikkontakten at least, for the fuse box there id not much difference.

It highly depends on the firm you cooperate with. Som tend to compensate by a higer price pr workhour.

yes, unfortunatley its normal practice. they make the most money from the materials. and then there is the warranty and the fact that all the materials has to comply with norwegian standards. (which most european materials should do?)

but. you might find an electician who is willing to do it.

you will at minimum need FDV for all materials. but talk to your electrician

Alright thank you all so far, helpful to me! One question, is the 1000kr per point still a good guideline? And then count all electric points plus switches?
